Spray Force was founded in 1968 by Doug Burchfield. For 20 years
preceding 1968, Mr. Burchfield worked in the construction industry,
first as a lathing contractor, then in the sales department of Glover
Manufacturing. Glover Mfg. was the first company to manufacture
and market a machine to facilitate the spraying of stucco, wall
texture, and acoustic materials used in connection with the building
industry. As a salesman for Glover Mfg., on the road promoting and
demonstrating this uncommon equipment, there were many embarrassing
moments
when the equipment failed to function properly. It was this
frustration that led Mr. Burchfield to want to make a better machine.
In 1968, Spray Force Mfg. began in a 1500 square foot building in
Fresno, California. This was the very beginning of the personalized
service that has become the cornerstone of Spray Force Mfg.
Ermil Turner built the equipment while Doug Burchfield
was on the road selling. It was just the two of them for 8 months
until additional help was needed to handle the incoming orders.
By 1970, the business moved to a facility with 7000 square feet
and employed 10 people. In 1971, the business was incorporated.
The original product line
consisted of equipment to spray drywall
texture, acoustic ceilings and finish stucco. Over the years, Spray
Force has built specialty machines to spray an array of new substances
used in connection with the building industry. In 1978, a series
of plastering and fireproofing equipment was added, and has greatly
increased our total sales.
Since the passing of Doug Burchfield in October
of 2002, Nancy
Burchfield, who has been a part of Spray Force since
its inception, continues the tradition her father began.
Bryan Thompson, a 25 year plastering veteran, assumed his responsibilites
as President of Spray Force, bringing with him both a desire to
innovate and the advantage of on-site experience. Shortly after
his arrival, the Thompson / Burchfield partnership began
to develop an industry revolution: the first fully hydraulic plastering
rig, which we know today as the Excalibur Hydra. In the past few
years, our export sales have grown considerably. We have an excellent
reputation for building durable, high quality equipment, and look
forward to discussing your individual needs.
